AKA & Tibz's murder case delayed again, not certified as ready for trial

DURBAN - The high-profile murder case of rapper Kiernan "AKA" Forbes and celebrity chef, Tebello Motsoane, has once again hit a delay.
The case has not been certified ready for trial due to outstanding issues.
The matter returned to the Durban High Court for a pre-trial conference on Thursday morning.

Five men stand accused of the February 2023 high-profile murder.
However, the matter has been adjourned to conclude some aspects of the case.

There has been yet another delay in the pre-trial matter of rapper, Kiernan Forbes, and celebrity chef, Tebello Motsoane.
This time around, due to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) having not completed the list of witnesses.
Prosecutor Advocate Elvis Gcweka told the court that 45 witnesses would be called on to testify, but said that he would add others at a later stage.
NPA spokesperson, Natasha Ramkisson Kara: "There was also conversations from the defence with regards whether there are outstanding statements and also further witnesses that the State intends on calling. The prosecutor in court did advise that will be the case."
The matter will return to court on 13 August 2025.
Both the defence and State will have to agree to a trial date, which is expected to begin around next year.
