JOHANNESBURG - The State in the case against a woman accused of killing her son said the defence relied on speculation rather than facts during her bid for bail.
Tifanny Nicole Meek is facing a murder charge at the Roodepoort Magistrate's Court in connection with the murder of her 11-year-old son, Jayden Lee Meek.
Meek has been in detention for the past two weeks, two months after her son was discovered a few meters away from her apartment in Fleurhof.

It has been a long and emotionally charged bail application, which has been described by Tiffany Meek’s lawyer as a mini-trial.
The Roodepoort Magistrate's Court heard of the State's incriminating discoveries found in Meek’s apartment, including a pillow with traces of blood.
During the proceedings, both State and defence pleaded their case to get a desired outcome.
Prosecutor Linda Duma implored the court to look at the proven facts the State had provided.
"Established on a prima facie basis is that the child returned home, returned to Swazi Place, was dropped off at the gate, was let in by the security, by the day shift security guard. There is no evidence, not even a suggestion, that Jayden knew other people or other children in that complex."
Judgment is expected to be handed out on Tuesday.
