Gift of the Givers teams responding to Bossiesgif informal settlement fire

CAPE TOWN - Gift of the Givers teams are responding to a fire that broke out in the Bossiesgif informal settlement in Plettenberg Bay.
 
The humanitarian aid organisation said a number of structures have been destroyed, as the blaze spread rapidly, giving residents little to no time to salvage any belongings.
 
Gift of the Givers Southern Cape coordinator, Mario Ferreira said: "One hundred and thirty-five homes were destroyed in the early hours of this morning. People lost everything. More than 500 people are estimated to be affected by this fire. Our trucks are getting loaded in Cape Town at the moment to assist the people."
