DURBAN - The State in the Lusikisiki massacre case is leading more evidence from witnesses in a separate matter that links some of the accused to another murder.

Three of the six men linked to the brutal murders of 18 people in Ngobozana village in September last year are implicated in the murder of a businessman in Kwabhaca, also in the Eastern Cape.

The group is back in the Mthatha High Court sitting in Lusikisiki for trial.

They are charged with conspiracy to commit murder and 18 counts of murder each.

The prosecution team is leading more evidence in the Kwabhaca murder case of a politician and businessman, shot and killed weeks before the Lusikisiki massacre.

It believes some of the accused in the Lusikisiki massacre carried out the hit.

Two police officers, who cannot be named for security reasons, have testified about collecting and recording exhibits such as bullet cartridges and fragments from the scene before sending them for ballistics.

Meanwhile, on the Lusikisiki matter, thus far, the court has heard evidence from crime scene experts and forensic analysts who worked on the bloody crime scene.

The State alleges that three of the six men accused carried out the hit while two others were found in Flagstaff with the weapons used in the assassination.
