Wendy Knowler: Online retailers CAN’T deny refunds on sale items within 7 days

Several consumers have complained about buying items on sale online, and being unable to return it if there is a problem.
Some online retailers have a clause in their terms and conditions, saying they do not offer returns for sale or promotional items.
However, the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act states that if you buy something online, you have seven days in which you can return it for a full refund for whatever reason.

You may be required to pay for the shipping costs, but you are still allowed to change your mind - even if the item is on sale or promotion.

If an item is defective, you have the right to return in within six months for refund, replacement or repair based on the Consumer Protection Act.
