Man who raped and murdered 6-year-old Amantle Samane to be sentenced

JOHANNESBURG -The Johannesburg High Court is set to sentence the man who has pleaded guilty to the rape and murder of six-year-old Amantle Samane.
Pethe Simiao was arrested in October last year, after the little girl's body was discovered in his shack in Orlando Soweto.
The Mozambican national has pleaded guilty to charges including kidnapping and contravening the Immigration Act.

A little over a year ago, Samane was reported missing by her mother, who could not find her outside where she had been playing.
The child was later discovered in Simiao's shack after an eyewitness led a search party to his place.

Simiao fled the scene following the discovery of the little girl's body but was eventually tracked down and arrested.
The incident had sparked widespread outrage, with community members calling for justice.
