CAPE TOWN - Three men convicted of murdering a woman outside the Wynberg Magistrate's Court will on Thursday know how long they'll spend locked up in prison.

Mandisi Mofu was found guilty of killing Christine Gumira more than two years ago.

Lukhanyo Mene and Vuminkosi Vumani were found guilty of conspiring with Mofu to commit the crime.

The Western Cape High Court is expected to hand down sentences to all the accused on Thursday.

Gumira was a murder-accused-turned-State-witness at the time of her murder in May 2023.

During arguments in mitigation and aggravation of sentence, the State asked the court to impose life sentences on all the accused.

It disputed the defence's arguments that Mofu lacked cognitive development when he shot and killed Gumira, having dropped out of school in the 9th grade at 16 years old.

The State said that Mofu articulated himself well on the witness stand and did not show any lack of intellectual capacity.

The prosecution also rejected the defence's submissions that Mene and Vumani played a lesser role in the hit.

State prosecutor Advocate Chandre Smith said that without Mene and Vumani, the execution would not have happened.
