CapeTalk's John Maytham explains why Springboks tickets are 'far too expensive'.
Watch below:
South Africa takes on Australia at the Cape Town Stadium on Saturday, 23 August.
A couple of tickets were reasonably priced, and they were snapped up quickly. What's left are those going for R4,000.
Maytham recalls when the Springboks Test match tickets against the All Blacks went on sale last year; tickets sold out in no time. Did it sell out because it was the All Blacks or because prices were better?
According to Maytham, R4,000 for a ticket is 'far too expensive' for the majority of South Africans.
Ticket prices are also cited as a reason the Ellis Park stadium was not filled when the Boks took on Australia last Saturday, 16 August.
The pattern of overpriced tickets keeping fans away from live games seems to be repeating itself, as the second Rugby Championship clash between the Boks and the Wallabies is also not sold out.
How much would you be prepared to pay for a good seat, asks Maytham.
Maytham shares some unfiltered thoughts... spoiler alert: 'Not a sausage, never' would Maytham pay this much for a rugby game, even if the Springboks are playing.
"I'm not prepared to pay R4,000 to watch a game of rugby when I can sit on my sofa in the comfort of my home with access to my well-stocked fridge and pantry... all the angles on a big HDTV."

"I'll have to go to Town, find parking, struggle through the crowds, maybe get a ticket, maybe get my car scratched... all of those things that are potentially negative add-ons to the rugby-going experience, and I'd go for R1,250... I'm prepared to go through that because there's nothing quite like being at the stadium when your team is playing, but at R4,000... not a sausage, never gonna pay that... not for a rugby game."
