Netflix has announced a new true crime limited documentary series, ‘Beauty and The Bester’, uncovering the rise and dramatic fall of Dr Nandipha Magudumana.
The celebrity doctor made headlines in 2023, when suspicions arose about her role in convicted rapist and murderer Thabo Bester’s elaborate prison escape.
The three-part series will dive into the question on everyone’s mind: how did one of the country’s most admired women end up at the centre of one of the country's biggest criminal scandals?
It all started with one viral photo of the pair casually shopping at Sandton City, leading to a nationwide manhunt, a dramatic arrest in Tanzania and extradition back to South Africa.
It features courtroom footage, never-before-seen investigative material, and interviews with friends and family.
‘Beauty and The Bester’ will be available to stream on 12 September 2025.
