Police have embarked on an operation to destroy drugs and unregistered medicines.

Police in Gauteng have destroyed more than R420 million worth of drugs and unregistered medicine as part of a recent operation.

Roughly R285 million of these narcotics were seized in KwaZulu-Natal.

This is aimed at cutting the supply of drugs in the country and stopping criminal syndicates in their tracks.

The details of the operation are being kept under wraps to protect the location and officials involves.

Over the last three years the South African Police Force has destroyed around R5.3 billion worth of drugs including cocaine, mandrax, and heroin.
