Kfm 94.5's Tracey Lange caught up with singer and Suidooster actress, Natasha van der Merwe.
Listen below:
After matriculating, Van der Merwe took her passion for the performing arts to The Waterfront Theatre School, where she majored in dance, drama, and musical theatre.
Her professional journey began with a high note, literally, performing alongside the legendary Tarryn Lamb in Abu Dhabi. From there, she toured the world - starring in a range of international musicals that helped shape her into the versatile performer she is today.
While many might not know it, Van der Merwe also had a brief stint as a dancer for the Blue Bulls, even though her heart beats for the Stormers!
But the true turning point in her career? Landing a role in the globally acclaimed musical Chicago. “It changed my life,” she says.
For the past five years, she’s brought the character of Susan Naudé to life in the beloved soapie Suidooster. Despite the demanding 12-hour days, Van der Merwe says being part of the show has fulfilled a long-held dream. “It’s allowed me to live out my soapie dream—it was on my bucket list for years.”
To celebrate turning 41, Natasha shared 41 life lessons she’s picked up along the way. Her top three?
