Magaqa, who is also the former secretary general of the ANC Youth League, was killed in 2017.
Arguing that the accused should be denied bail, Advocate Lawrence Gcaba said the accusedfailed to make his case.
"As a bail application, you, as you would say when you were a teacher, dismally failed to show the existence of any exceptional circumstances warranting your release on bail."
Gcaba maintained that all evidence points to Sikhosana as the mastermind.
"At long last, we have evidence linking the mastermind, unfortunately, the other one is deceased, to the killing of this young man [Magaqa]. We’ve managed to put Mr Sikhosana to answer to the charges of the overwhelming evidence that we have against you."
