Stanley Sikhosana, who is accused of murdering Magaqa, returned to the uMzimkhulu Magistrate's Court for cross-examination on Monday in a bid for bail.
During cross-examination in the high-profile murder case, State prosecutor Advocate Lawrence Gcaba led evidence from a witness statement implicating Sikhosana.
While at it, he took a different turn, questioning his relationship with Eric Zuma, who is accused of killing Ndlovu, who was killed in December 2023.
Ndlovu was killed in full view of his wife, Pretty Ndlovu, and their little children.
Gcaba questioned Sikhosana about Ndlovu: "He is charged for murder, not 1 but 2, this Mr Zuma. Did he tell you that? He is applying for bail in the Howick Magistrate's Court in a politically-related killing - same as you.
"What is of interest to the investigating team is, we are going to lead evidence in the bail of him paying to stop from coming to testify agains him, similar to you."
While Sikhosana admitted they met Zuma and exchanged contact details in prison, he refused to comment while Gcaba pointed to similarities between them.
Zuma will return to court on Monday for cross-examination, while Sikhosana will return the next day for the same purpose.
