Many of us are aware that sugar is not good for our health, but we often underestimate how much is in our food.
Things we eat every day, from sauces to cereal to ‘healthy’ snacks, are packed with sugar.
Sugar has been linked to weight gain, increased risk of diabetes, and even mental health issues.
In order to wage war on the sugar infiltrating our diets, we have to do more than just cut out sweet treats, according to Smook.
“We need to educate people to know about this poison we have on our doorstep every day.”

He believes transforming our health requires structured, guided changes that we can carry through in the long term.

He adds that once a person’s blood sugar is stabilised, they do not battle with cravings, their appetite becomes regular, and they become full with less food.
“Sugar is nothing less than a drug… We need to declare a war on sugar.”
