Inquest into Steve Biko's death postponed to November

JOHANNESBURG - The Gqeberha High Court has postponed the inquest into the death of anti-apartheid activist Steve Biko.
The matter will return to court on 12 November following case management.
Biko died on this day in 1977 in a police cell after a month of his imprisonment.
During proceedings on Friday morning, the court heard that there were two persons of interest in the matter who were still alive.
The purpose of the inquiry is to present evidence that will enable the court to make a finding on whether the death was caused by someone’s failure to prevent it.
Eastern Cape National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson, Luxolo Tyali: "The inquest into the death of Steve Biko, which has been enrolled in the Gqeberha High Court, has now been postponed to the 12th of November for case management."
