JOHANNESBURG - Deputy President Paul Mashatile has paid tribute to EWN associate editor, Tshidi Madia, saying her passing leaves a void in South African journalism.

Madia died on Wednesday at the age of 42, her death sparking shock across South Africa’s media fraternity, where she was known for her sharp political reporting and her warm, disarming style.

Mashatile described her as the "darling of the media", a journalist who blended professional rigour with a profound human touch.

ActionSA said adia carried herself with kindness and grace, earning the respect of colleagues and leaders alike.

RISE Mzansi remembered her as a no-nonsense, fierce and unbiased practitioner.

Spokesperson Mabine Seabe said: "[She was an] unbiased media practitioner who plied her trade with passion, love and accuracy. Her warm yet direct way of interrogating politicians and other public figures will be sorely missed."

The Democratic Alliance (DA) said her fearless reporting and incisive questioning of power would be remembered with respect.

The African Congress for Transformation (ACT) called her a "shero of journalism" who held power to account and gave voice to the voiceless.

Madia’s passing marks the loss of one of South Africa’s most prominent political journalists, a reporter whose legacy lies in her tenacity, her fairness and her ability to make complex politics accessible.
