CAPE TOWN - The court has amended the bail conditions of two ex-cops linked to a R20 million jewellery heist in Cape Town to allow them to look for work.
Jacobus Groenewald, Bradley Minnaar, Mthuthuzeli Mafanya, and Bathandwa Soldati made a brief appearance at the Wynberg Magistrates Court on Friday.
All four police officers have been fired for their alleged involvement in the house robbery in Llandudno almost a year ago.
The matter has been postponed to 22 September 2025 for a regional court date.
The Wynberg Magistrates Court has adjusted Mthuthuzeli Mafanya and Bathandwa Soldati's bail conditions to allow them to look for work.
The pair had asked the court to allow them to be released from house arrest between 6am and 6pm.
Prosecutors have also requested the transcripts of the bail applications of all the accused to be made available for trial preparations.
However, Groenewald's lawyerhas objected to the transcripts being used at trial, arguing that the Magistrate who sat for the bail application did not thoroughly explain to the accused what his rights are.
All the accused testified and dealt with the merits of the case during their bail applications.
