Parliament's Ad Hoc Committee investigating police corruption names Norman Arendse as evidence leader

CAPE TOWN - Advocate Norman Arendse has been appointed to lead evidence in Parliament's Ad Hoc Committee investigating police corruption and interference.
The committee has also resolved to start its hearings and interviewing witnesses by 24 September.
The committee announced Arendse's appointment at its meeting on Friday.

The Ad Hoc Committee met to receive a progress report on its preparations for the hearings, which will start later this month.
The committee started its meeting by announcing Rendse's appointment to lead evidence.
Arendse will be supported by two other senior counsel.
Dr. Thulisile Ganyaza-Twalo, who is assisting the committee, confirmed Arendse's appointment as an external legal counsel.
"The next slide shows the two advocates that will be working with him. We have Adv. Maria Mokhaoetsi and also Adv. Lerato Zikalala, who are working together with the senior counsel Norman Arendse.
Parliament said it's also sent invitation letters to Nhlanhla Mkwanazi to appear, but he hasn't confirmed his availability yet, due to his commitment at the Madlanga Commission, which will also start its hearings soon.
