DURBAN - The Kwazulu-Natal (KZN) traditional leader accused of killing two people, including a Democratic Alliance (DA) councillor, has been arrested for another murder.

Simphiwe Zuma now faces three murder charges after an investigation by the KZN police’s political killings task team.

Eyewitness News understands that the unit arrested Zuma over the weekend for the 2022 murder of a man in Howick.

Zuma is now accused of killing three people, including DA Umngeni Local Municipality chief whip Nhlalayenza Ndlovu and Induna Qalokunye Zuma.

Induna was shot and killed in 2023, while Ndlovu was murdered later in the same year.

Eyewitness News has learnt that the gun used to kill Induna is linked to the November 2022 murder in Howick.

Sources have confirmed the latest case is also part of the 121 dockets of the task team that have recently been returned to the unit for investigation.

Meanwhile, Zuma will return to the Howick Magistrates Court for his bail hearing on the Ndlovu case.
