Police seize 2 illegal firearms, arrest 5 suspects in Mfuleni

As gun violence continues to put Cape Town communities under siege, police in Mfuleni have confiscated two illegal firearms and arrested five suspects. 

Crime Intelligence and National Intervention Units conducted search operations in the area over the weekend.

The police's Frederick van Wyk said the weapons were found when a car was stopped and searched.

"The occupants could not produce any licenses nor permits to be in possession of these firearms and ammunition. These firearms will be taken for ballistic testing."
