Animal Welfare Society Helderberg seeks support after mass poisoning of dogs in Lwandle

A local animal welfare organisation is calling for support after several dogs were poisoned in Lwandle on Tuesday night.
The Animal Welfare Society Helderberg (AWSH) said they had been tending to the affected dogs all morning, after around 18 were found to have been poisoned. Ten of the dogs have since died.

The organisation’s vet confirmed that the dogs had ingested poisoned meat.
Inspector for the organisation, Kyle Girodo, said all the dogs were within the property of their owners.
"We are financially struggling as an NPO, and with an influx of dogs like this, it really is going to put pressure on us We are trying our best and doing our best for the public, but we also do need the public’s help," Girodo said.
