Soweto highway reopened after fatal shooting of taxi association chairperson

The Soweto highway is now open to traffic after it was closed as a result of a fatal shooting incident on the route on Thursday.
Gauteng National Taxi Alliance chairperson, Thamsanqa Moyo was shot and killed on the highway this morning, while travelling alone.
Police said the cause of his murder remains unclear at this stage.

Joburg Metro Police Department spokesperson Xolani Fihla said emergency teams who were on scene have now completed their work and the route is clear for traffic.
“The road was previously closed between the N1 and Immink Drive due to a fatal shooting incident. Law enforcement and emergency services have completed their work on the scene. The JMPD would like to thank motorists for their patience and cooperation while the road was closed."
