Brown Mogotsi, a North West businessman, is not an informant for Crime Intelligence, according to KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi.
Mkhwanazi, testifying on the third day of the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry, has spoken at length about Mogotsi, a person he paints as an information peddler, who has been meddling in police affairs.

EWN previously reported that Mogotsi is a convicted criminal on multiple cases of assault, theft and defeating the ends of justice, dating back to 1997
Despite Mogotsi publicly claiming he was involved in the arrest of murder and rape convict Thabo Bester in Tanzania, Mkhwanazi draws questions whether Mogotsi has links to Crime Intelligence spy boss Feroz Khan, who was involved in the Bester arrest.
“He said it in public that he was part of the operation to bring Thabo Bester back into the country, he said that. I know that General Khan was in that operation too. It’s something on the side that will need to be checked.”
Mkhwanazi added that Mogotsi is privy to a lot of secret information but isn’t a police informant.
“He will have to explain this involvement that he has because he is not registered as a source in the police, but he has access to everything.”
