South African G4D Open to showcase world-class disabled golf at Wanderers

Johannesburg's historic Wanderers Golf Club will host the South African G4D Open from October 20–22, 2025, a three-day international championship celebrating both world-class golf and the diversity of ability.
The field includes international stars such as Ireland's Ian St John, who competes in a Para-golfer (a specialised cart for players who cannot walk), and Spain's Juan Postigo, one of the world's most acclaimed disabled golfers.

South Africa's challenge will be led by David Watts, the current Order of Merit leader, alongside multiple national champion Daniël Slabbert, and rising contenders Kean Dry and Justin Cowley. Also taking part are one-armed golfer Dehan van der Walt and Ignation Douries, who competes with cerebral palsy.
The championship will be contested over 54 holes in three divisions: Gross, Net, and Stableford. What makes the event unique is the wide range of disabilities represented, with players competing across divisions for those with one arm, one leg, cerebral palsy, and blindness, among others.

Supported by the National Lotteries Commission, Nomads South Africa, and GolfRSA, the South African G4D Open has become a flagship on the disabled golf calendar
As SADGA Chairman Enver Hassen put it: “By staging a world-class tournament at The Wanderers, and welcoming both local and international players, we are showing that South Africa can provide a competitive platform equal to any in the world.”
Spectators are welcome, with free entry across all three days.
