On Tuesday, members from Operation Dudula visited a number of primary schools in Soweto, telling them they should stop enrolling undocumented foreign children.

The organisation has threatened to take disruptive action by January of next year if their calls are not heeded by the schools.

Gauteng Education spokesperson Steve Mabona said: "We cannot enter into their plan that they have pronounced on what they will be doing. As a department also, we have a responsibility to work very closely with the law enforcement agencies to make sure there is law and order in our schools. Anything that you do, as long as it's within the confines of the law, that should not be a problem. But if you go to our schools and do anything that is unlawful, then the law enforcement agencies must assist us."
