Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi has announced that a programme set to digitalise museums in the province will be launched soon.
Speaking at Heritage Day celebrations at the Kagiso Memorial Centre on Wednesday afternoon, Lesufi said this will form part of the heritage strategy and programme for 2025.
Gauteng is home to more than 100 museums, five of which are inscribed as heritage sites.
Lesufi also emphasised the importance of preserving the melting pot of cultures the country boasts, adding that it’s pleasant that many young people are part of today’s celebrations.
"Every culture is our culture, and we are better off in diversity. There must be no one that feels that their culture is not important and we are here celebrating."
