JOHANNEBSURG - After nearly two decades in the industry, rapper and songwriter Kwesta has proven that staying relevant takes more than just talent. It takes love, resilience and an unshakable passion for the craft.

Eighteen years deep in the game, Senzo Mfundo Vilakazi, aka Kwesta, is not only celebrating his longevity but also reflecting on the lessons.
The rapper spoke to EWN, following his performance at the DStv Delicious Festival over the weekend.
“The whole thing, why I’ve been here 18 years again, is the love that people show, the passion that I had for this thing in terms of the craft in itself and just getting a reaction and a connection with people,” he said.
“Just being good alone is not enough. You’ve got to find whatever it is that’s missing, add it onto the thing and figure out a way.”

Kwesta remains committed to paving the way for the next generation, urging young artists to stay true to themselves while learning from those who came before them.
“Take a little bit of advice from us, but don’t do everything we tell you.”
Embracing what he calls the “twilight years” of his career, he is currently working on another album as well as collaborations with other artists.
