Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) supporters have gathered in large numbers outside the East London Magistrates Court, where their leader, Julius Malema, is awaiting judgment in his firearm discharge case.
The trial, which has been ongoing for three years, relates to alleged violations of the Firearms Control Act, including the unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.
Malema is accused of firing a rifle during an EFF birthday rally in Mdantsane in 2018 in front of a large crowd.
Malema, however, maintains it was a toy gun and didn’t contain live ammunition.
Magistrate Twanet Olivier is currently handing down judgment.
