Minibus taxi operations have resumed at the Voorbrug taxi rank in Delft following a deadly shooting on Thursday.

Three taxi operators were shot and killed on Thursday morning when gunmen opened fire at the rank.

Police said a white minibus taxi pulled up before unknown suspects began shooting at passengers inside a taxi that was parked at the time.

The motive for the attack is believed to be linked to the ongoing taxi-related conflict.

Delft residents said the incident had left the community shaken.

Resident Sumaya Prins said the shooting was traumatising for many families in the area.

“I’m stressed because my husband left for work at 05:30. I’m stressed because it could be him; we don’t know who it is. It’s stressful,” said Prins.

Another resident, Anthea Idas, said the tragedy was even more painful because some families had lost their breadwinners in the attack.

“How many children will go without a father that provided for them? Innocent people are dying on a daily basis,” said Idas.

Police have launched a manhunt for the gunmen and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
