The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) says it is aware of the issues preventing pensioners from accessing their grant payments.  

It says that as far as it's aware, only beneficiaries who use Capitec Bank are affected.

SASSA spokesperson Andile Tshona said it is unclear why the money is not reflecting in their accounts.

"We are in contact with Capitec right now, as well as the Reserve Bank, to find out what could be the reason why these beneficiaries did not receive their grants. From our side, their payment files were dispersed, and these beneficiaries were supposed to have received their grants."
