South African entertainment figure Salamina Mosese has virtually done it all - from child star to award-winning actress and presenter, and now a respected film producer.

She's a familiar face on our TV screens, whether as a Top Billing presenter or character in sitcoms and soaps including Abomzala and Sewende Laan.

On top of all that, the multi-talented star, wife and mother is the successful author of a number of children's books.

On The Money Show's How I Make My Money feature, Mosese traces her 27-year journey in the media industry, starting out on TV youth shows like CRAZe and Soul Buddyz.

She was just 13 when she started working, Mosese says.

And she approached her TV career then already as a job first - 'I understood we were also having fun, but I had thisthing at the back of my mind: It's work, it's work, it's work.'

It's a tricky space to navigate as a teenager, she relates, when there is so much already going on in a young person's life.

Up until today, navigating the fame that comes with working in this industry, is still the hardest thing for her.

A saving grace for Mosese, was opting to qualify herself in a different field.

She has a Bachelor of Arts in CorporateCommunications from the University of Johannesburg and a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management from Regenesys Business School.

'It's adjacent to what I was already doing, but I was honing different skill sets that would stand me in good stead for what the future held for me.'

Few people know that she actually left entertainment for two years, Mosese says, when she entered the corporate world to work as assistant communications lead at a non-governmental organisation.

'It was fun for me because I had to really find a way to build a life outside of the industry, and then of course I missed it because when you're a creative it's more than just a job - there's just this yearning for creating things, or being a part of things that will outlive us, or change minds and spark conversations.'

Soon after returning to the industry following her two-year corporate stint, Mosese succumbed to a growing fascination with producing.

Together with Stephina Zwane, she founded the production house Sorele Media where she is producer and managing director.

They have produced four feature films, along with TV content for major corporates in South Africa.

As Mosese puts it, it is her time now to spotlight other actors and create new stars.

'For me, it's just about growth, and pushing myself and trying new things', she says.
