Mother who was raped with her two daughters seeks answers from police

A mother who was raped with her two daughters in Durban Deep, west of Johannesburg, is calling for urgent answers from police about their case.

The incident happened last month while the three women were walking home from a local community gardening project.

It's alleged the rapist threatened the victims with a gun before he raping the mother and her 18 and 15-year-old daughters.

It is understood that the family had opened a case with the Roodepoort Police Station, but has not received any communication.

The founder of Women and Men Against Child Abuse, Miranda Jordan, who was called to assist the family, said that they had faced difficulty securing an arrest.

"This is a whole family, all the females in one family. And they were promised that they were going to have counselling... In fact, even the little brother could draw a drawing. They could describe this man. They could describe everything about that. They would the next day have an identikit drawn by the police officer, and they would get counselling."

EWN has reached out to the police for comment to no avail.
