The family of late ambassador Nathi Mthethwa said bringing his mortal remains back home was not easy, but they have expressed gratitude to all role players.

Mthethwa’s remains were returned to South African soil on Friday.

He died last week in Paris where he served as an ambassador to France and Monaco.

Family spokesperson Dr Sifiso Buthelezi described the task as a difficult one.

“Fellow South Africans all that we want to say is we are now back at home, we did not come back empty handed - we came back with the son of the soil, to present him to his family, to his children and the people of south Africa, here is Nathi in-front of you". Buthelezi said.

He added there were some difficulties faced during processes to bring Mthethwa back home.

“It was not easy, we will speak about that someday, but I must thank uMa'Buthelezi Philisiwe because if it was just alone - we’d still be wondering around in France," said Buthelezi.
