A fire has broken out in Masiphumelele.
The City of Cape Town's Fire and Rescue Service received reports of informal structures alight in Masemola Street, at around 6AM on Monday morning.
Several crews were dispatched to the scene.
Fire and Rescue Services spokesperson, Jermaine Carelse: "One person died in a fire in Masemola Street. Our initial estimate is that one formal and around 20 informal structures were destroyed. The fire has been contained and crews remain on site, working to ensure it is extinguished."
