When a dog, which the SPCA has now named Drifter, was stranded and afraid in a ball of debris in fast-moving water, Cape of Good Hope SPCA Inspector Lwazi Ntungele knew he had to act fast. But stepping into that water meant facing his lifelong fear: swimming.

Upon transporting Drifter to the SPCA's Animal Hospital in Grassy Park, vets discovered that Drifter was suffering from Paraphimosis, which required immediate medical surgery under anaesthetic.

The procedure spared Drifter from lasting damage and alleviated immense suffering.

Drifter is safe and working with the SPCA's onsite animal behaviourist before he becomes available for adoption.
