The National Education Health and Allied Workers union (NEHAWU) is set to march on Friday over the deteriorating state of healthcare in the Nelson Mandela Bay, in Eastern the Cape.
The group will demonstrate outside the Port Elizabeth provincial hospital.
They will march to the district offices to hand over a memorandum highlighting issues plaguing hospitals.
NEHAWU said that the healthcare system is battling corruption, staff shortages, dilapidated infrastructure and shortage of medicine.
It is for this reason that they are demonstrating calling for the department to resolve these problems.
The union said that the intention is to improve quality service to people who are under privileged and part of the working class.
Earlier this year the Dora Nginza hospital faced a security breach where two newborn babies were kidnapped.
While other hospitals had doctors and nurses who complained about being understaffed and overstretched.
