A woman posted on TikTok how a pharmacist at Clicks made a dangerous error while dispensing her medication.

She was prescribed Ecotrin as her doctor was concerned about her potentially developing pre-eclampsia.

The pharmacist offered her a generic, which she accepted, and after a few days of taking it, she started to feel unwell.

When she checked the medication, it had a warning on it saying, 'Not to be dispensed to pregnant women.'

She returned to the pharmacy, where they apologised, saying she was dispensed a generic of Bactrim.

Thankfully the baby is okay after the incident and is moving as usual.

Clicks said that they are taking the error extremely seriously and are in contact with the woman to offer support.

They also say they are taking internal action and implementing refresher training for all pharmacy staff.

Consumer journalist Wendy Knowler urges anyone who has had the incorrect medication dispensed to them to report it to the SA Pharmacy Council.
