Firefighters respond to smoke at V&A Waterfront restaurant

Cape Town Fire Services has responded to a call of a possible fire at the V&A Waterfront on Friday morning.
Smoke was seen coming from the roof of a restaurant at the mall after 10am.
Firefighters are on the scene now, assessing the situation.
Staff from the restaurant are sitting and waiting outside the building, while the restaurant's floor is flooded from emergency sprinklers.
There’s still a strong smoke and burning in the air.
Eyewitnesses said that at around 10:30, staff were asked to evacuate due to a possible fire above the restaurant.
V&A Waterfront Management has confirmed the situation has been contained and the area remains cordoned off.
