The City of Cape Town has unveiled two new MyCiti bus depots, marking another step in expanding the city's public transport network.

The depots are located at the corner of Spine Road and Mew Way between Khayelitsha and Mitchell’s Plain.

They're designed to improve travel routes and make commuting easier for residents in the metro's southeast.

Each depot is equipped with mechanical workshops, refuelling facilities, and underground infrastructure for charging electric buses.

City of Cape Town Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis said the project forms part of a broader plan to extend the MyCiti service to Wynberg and Claremont.

“This R430 million new depot in Khayelitsha will serve as the anchor point of our entire expanded MyCiti service linking Khayelitsha, Mitchell's Plain with new dedicated bus lanes all the way through to Claremont and all of the communities in between.”
