ANC insists no crisis in City of Ekurhuleni despite cracks in coalition

The African National Congress (ANC) insists there is no ‘crisis’ in the City of Ekurhuleni despite some recent political instability.
The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) recently withdrew from the governing coalition in the metro, leaving the ANC leading a minority government.
ActionSA also refused the ANC's offer to join the coalition.

On the other hand, the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry continues to expose the deep rot of corruption within the city’s highest governance structures.
The ANC, which is the largest party in the city, recently held a regional executive committee meeting to consider some of the political and governance issues in Ekurhuleni.
"We wish to assure the residents of Ekurhuleni that there is no crisis in the City of Ekurhuleni. There is no crisis in the leadership of the executive mayor and his team and if there is anything, it’s that of stabilising the city and its administration. As we speak, the city is functioning," said ANC Ekurhuleni regional secretary and Finance MMC, Jongizizwe Dlabathi.
