The spokesperson for the Moeleketsi family, Reuben Mahlagare, said his relative survived a deadly attack earlier in 2025.
"There was an attempt, so he had security working with him, but you know these types of things do happen and the family is shattered."
He said they have no idea who was behind Moeleketsi’s murder.
While police haven’t ruled out taxi-related tensions, Mahlagare said the association had resolved all issues they had with the Alex Taxi Association.
He added that Moeleketsi was a leader who pioneered peace in his organisation.
He is survived by his wife and four children.
