The Alexandra Randburg Midrand Taxi Association (ARMTA) has confirmed that its chairperson, Molefe Moekeletsi, was killed in a shooting incident in Marlboro on Thursday.

ARMTA reported that Moekeletsi was shot while driving before his vehicle crashed into two other vehicles.

Police also confirmed that shots were fired at a security company vehicle that happened to be in the area at the time of the attack.

Police spokesperson Dimakatso Nevhuhlwi released the following statement regarding the incident:

"The police will be investigating a case of murder with two counts and attempted murder with three counts. This is after a shooting incident that happened here in Marlborough on Eighth Street where two vehicles that were driving together were ambushed by unknown suspects."
