Limpopo MEC Mashego slams GBV as 'alarming' at murdered cousins' funeral

Limpopo's Health MEC, Dieketseng Mashego, expressed deep concern over the alarming frequency of gender-based violence (GBV) in society.
The MEC was speaking on Saturday at the funeral in Groblersdal of two cousins, Baleseng and Tshiamo Moramaga. The pair were brutally murdered in Mamelodi last Sunday, allegedly by 38-year-old Tebogo Mnisi.

MEC Mashego highlighted the particular concern that femicide continues to claim lives even during August, Women's Month.
She issued a call for communities, government, NGOs, and law enforcement to work together to put an end to such violence.
"Before an abuser kills someone, they begin with acts of violence, and the community is aware because they see it happening, but they choose to look away. They go as far as saying, 'we are used to seeing this.'"
