Water crisis: Activists urge politicians to support, not exploit, frustrated residents

Civic society groups leading the fight against Johannesburg’s ongoing water challenges are urging politicians to support residents, not exploit them.
On Saturday, scores of residents protested outside the City’s chambers, expressing their frustration over persistent water shortages. Many said they are tired of dry taps and cannot continue paying for a service they are not receiving.

“Our unity is our power, and our power is our path to justice. There are some political parties here today. But let me be clear, you are welcome as supporters, not as beneficiaries. You, the political parties, must take this message into Parliament.”
