The vehicle is at the Vosloorus Police Station, where ballistics experts are collecting and analysing firearm evidence.
When police found the red Chevrolet that Mogotsi was driving during his alleged shooting, the vehicle had no licence disc.
All four tyres were also visibly worn out, with the treads faded and barely visible.

EWN understands that the car was bought second-hand from a dealership on the East Rand earlier this year.
Police spokesperson Athlenda Mathe said the details remain unclear, as Mogotsi has yet to submit a statement about what happened on Monday night.
"We have seized the vehicle. We are still waiting for him and we are hoping that he will present himself."
Police say if it turns out that Mogotsi lied about the alleged shooting, he could face charges of defeating the ends of justice.
