The KwaZulu-Natal Department (KZN) of Education said matric examinations will not be disrupted at a school in the uMgungundlovu District Municipality that was set alight.
The Mpolweni Secondary School was broken into, vandalised and torched on Tuesday night.
Several classrooms were destroyed, and furniture was reduced to ashes.
But the department’s spokesperson, Muzi Mahlambi, said matric exams at the school will continue as normal.
“Despite the damage, the school hall was not affected, and matric learners will continue writing their National Senior Certificate examinations as scheduled. The MEC affirmed that no criminal act will derail the province’s commitment to ensuring that examinations proceed without disruption.”
