Discovery Vitality, in partnership with Nando's, is hosting its first-ever Vitality Chicken Run on Saturday, 8 November.
Everyone, from seasoned marathoners to first-time runners, will take to the streets of Johannesburg’s CBD, from Constitution Hill and Nelson Mandela Bridge to the colourful courts of the Maharishi Sports Club and Gandhi Square.
The event allows runners to experience the CBD’s buzzing new energy, bold developments, and a renewed sense of pride, says Kubeka.
“[We want] people to see Jozi at its finest, in the evening, which is exciting and different. There will be road closures to ensure that people are safe."
Also, for every participant who crosses the finish line, a meal will be donated to a child in the Lorentzville community, making that final step over the finish line even sweeter.
All the race details:
- Entries are still open: 5km is R250 and 10km is R350.
- The 5km starts at 5:20 pm and the 10km starts at 5 pm.
- The race kicks off at the Ellis Park Stadium Precinct. Gates open at 2 pm.
- There are dedicated e-hailing drop-off and pick-up spots.
- You can alternatively take the Gautrain to Park Station, and then transfer to a Prasa train that will drop you off at Ellis Park.
- Trains depart Park Station every 15 minutes from 2 pm, and it is free for race participants.
- The last Prasa train back to Park Station departs Ellis Park at 9.30 pm, and the last Gautrain leaves Park Station at 10 pm.
