Four of the six Reiger Park mass shooting victims laid to rest

Four of the six people gunned down in Reiger Park a week ago are being laid to rest on Saturday.

A joint funeral service is being held for cousins, Patricia Nieuwenhuys and Ruth Marais, while Royden Joseph and Danyelle Barlow are being buried separately.

The fifth victim, Nomasonto Nkosi, will be laid to rest on Sunday and the sixth will reportedly be buried in their home country.

The six were shot dead last Saturday night when gunmen, travelling in two vehicles, opened fire, wounding three others.

The community remains in shock and is calling for swift justice.

Police said a 23-year-old suspect arrested earlier this week has been released due to a lack of evidence.

Gauteng SAPS spokesperson Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi earlier this week explained that an 18-year-old - was also brought in for questioning.

"The docket was not placed on the court roll due to insufficient evidence but the investigations on this matter still continue and today on the 5th of November 2025 an 18-year-old was brought in for questioning on the matter."
