Higher Education Minister, Buti Manamela, is set to appoint a new National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) chairperson on Monday, following the sudden resignation of Karen Stander.
The former chairperson resigned from her position last Sunday, citing an environment riddled with bullying, racism, and intimidation.
In a statement, Manamela noted that they aim to ensure stability and continuity during the transition.
"The minister has also accepted the resignation of former chairperson of the NSFAS board, Dr. Karen Stander, and will appoint a new chairperson on Monday 10 November 2025," said the minister's spokesperson, Matshepo Seedat.
