A high-level Zimbabwean politician will be spending his weekend locked in a South African prison after being found with explosives.
The 53-year-old politician was arrested in Pretoria on Friday, along with a 78-year-old adult male.
Police received a tip-off that the pair were travelling around the capital with the dangerous material in a Ford Fiesta.
At this stage, it is unclear where they were heading with the explosives.
SAPS national spokesperson Athlenda Mathe said: "When police spotted the said vehicle, they stopped it and found 26 blasting cartridges and 15 capped fuse connectors. The pair will appear before the Pretoria Magistrates Court facing the said charges on Monday, 10 November 2025."
